Introduced in 2023, Spain's innovative visa program caters specifically to remote workers. Commonly known as the "Digital Nomad Visa," this initiative welcomes non-EU/EEA citizens to reside and work remotely in Spain for an extended duration.

This visa is suitable for:

• Freelancers, contractors, and self-employed individuals: Your work must be entirely remote, serving clients registered outside of Spain. A minimum annual income needs to be demonstrated.
• Remote employees: If your role for a UK company is fully remote, you may also qualify, provided you meet the income requirements.

Key benefits:

• Initial visa granted for up to 3 years (when applying in Spain)
• Full working rights for dependent spouses: Spouses of visa holders can obtain full work authorization in Spain.
• Permanent residency might be achievable after five years of continuous legal residency.
• Up to 20% of your income can originate from work with Spanish clients (must be remote), providing flexibility in your remote work arrangements.

While the application process requires careful planning, gathering necessary documents takes 2-4 months, with the actual visa typically granted within a month of submitting complete and accurate documentation.
